Middletown Elementary School students surprised with new bikes

LOUISVILLE, Ky. (WDRB) -- Some local students with perfect attendance have been rewarded with new bikes.

Workers from Academy Sports and Outdoors surprised students at Middletown Elementary School Friday with bikes and helmets during a ceremony.

More than 120 children at the school have perfect attendance. School officials randomly drew the names of 30 children. The winners had big smiles on their faces.

Casandra Swift Crowe, a teacher at the school, said that for the students, it's all about, "just coming everyday and being a part of a wonderful school that loves and cares about them and wants to teach them."

"We just want them to know how important it is to be here everyday," she added.

The company gave away more than 4,000 bikes across the country.
