Horseshoe Southern Indiana getting $13 million hotel makeover

ELIZABETH, Ind. (WDRB) - Horseshoe Southern Indiana is making a big gamble for its guests. The hotel is going through a $13 million makeover.

The work has started on the second floor at the hotel. Guest rooms are being stripped down and redone. The work should not disrupt guests on other floors.

"We'll go floor-by-floor, and it should be a very peaceful renovation," said Brad Seigel, general manager of Horseshoe Southern Indiana.

Seigel says the lobby, cafe and all 503 rooms and suites will get drastic renovations.

"The hotel opened in 2001. Since then, we've done several refreshes," Seigel said. "This is a comprehensive renovation. All the decor will change, all the colors will change, everything will look new."

The biggest difference guests will notice in the rooms is a striking floor-to-ceiling headboard.

"All new carpet, wall coverings, the centerpiece will be a fantastic headboard, all new televisions," Seigel said.

Trim work will go from beige to a rich espresso color. With a casino, golf course, several restaurants and more, Horseshoe knew it was time for modern hotel rooms.

Bu it isn't just the decor getting an update. Guests will notice amenities like USB ports.

"Much more convenience for all of us who are connected, use our phones or tablets or computers," Seigel said.

Construction started just after Thanksgiving and should be finished in April. Some of the new rooms will be available for guests starting in January.

Seigel says room prices will not be affected by the renovations.
