LOUISVILLE, Ky. (WDRB) -- Fort Campbell is honoring 248 soldiers killed 31 years ago.

The military post held a memorial service Monday morning for the victims of the Gander International Airport crash.

It happened in Canada in 1985. The soldiers were assigned to the 101st Airborne Division. They were headed back to the post from a six-month peacekeeping mission in the Sinai Peninsula.

Today's service was held at the Gander Memorial Site at Fort Campbell.
