LOUISVILLE, Ky. (WDRB) -- Officials have released the cause of a fatal house fire that happened last month near Iroquois Park.

The fire happened November 25 at a home on Iroquois Avenue near Grant Avenue. Gary Newton, 67, died in the fire.

Louisville Metro Arson investigators say the cause of the fire was an electrical malfunction, according to Louisville Division of Fire spokesperson Captain Salvador Melendez.

Fire officials say they found Newton in what they believe was the T.V. room.

Lieutenant Colonel Jeff Botner says the fire was so hot the roof collapsed and spread to a home next door. He says the fire damaged a wall and the attic. No one was hurt in that fire.
