Dozens of turkeys delivered to Louisville's Urban League for low-income families

LOUISVILLE, Ky. (WDRB) -- Christmas comes early for some local families.

Kentucky Harvest and some LMPD officers delivered 70 turkeys to the Louisville Urban League.

The turkeys were bought to help low-income families.

Urban League President and CEO Sadiqa Reynolds says the need is tremendous.

Metro Police have their hands full with a rise in violent crime, but say this is an important part of the job.

"This is also part of our job is quality of life. Kentucky Harvest called us and said, 'hey we have these turkeys, we can give them to somebody.' And then we called the Urban League, who we know can get it to the citizens in the community immediately," said Officer Roger Collins, an LMPD 1st Division Resource Officer.

The turkeys were gone in less than an hour.
