LOUISVILLE, Ky. (WDRB) -- People living near Bowman Field have lost their fight to prevent trees from being chopped down.

The Federal Aviation Administration says trimming or removing the trees will have no significant impact on the environment or historical character of the nearby areas.

The plans call for trimming or removing more than 200 trees near Bowman Field. Airport authority officials say it's needed for safety, and it's an FAA requirement.

The tree work is expected to begin in March.
