LMPD Chief Steve Conrad reiterates commitment to safety in wake of no confidence vote

Posted: Updated:

LOUISVILLE, Ky. (WDRB) -- Despite the dissension among his officers, LMPD Chief Steve Conrad says Louisvillians shouldn't be concerned.

He was at his weekly peace walk Thursday night, this time at Oxmoor Mall.

Chief Conrad and several officers spoke with shoppers about a number of topics, including safety. Chief Conrad maintained the FOP's no confidence vote won't keep his department from protecting and serving its citizens.

"The men and women of this department are professional," he said. "They all swore an oath to do what they could to take care of this community, as did I. And then I can make the commitment to you and anyone in this community that we will work together to do our absolutely best to do what we can to make Louisville a safer city."

Frigid temperatures forced officers inside, but Chief Conrad said he's committed to continuing a weekly peace walk.
