LACETT | Langford shines on national spotlight

LOUISVILLE, KY. (WDRB) – La Lumiere may have won the game, but New Albany’s Romeo Langford clearly stole the show.

The Bulldogs star guard, who is ranked second in the high school class of 2018, scored 40 points in a losing effort as La Lumiere won the opening game of the GEICO High School Basketball Showcase, 86-63, in New Castle, Ind.

Playing in front of a national audience on ESPN2 and a packed crowd that included Louisville head coach Rick Pitino and Kansas head coach Bill Self, Langford showed no fear against the nation’s best high school team. He opened up with the game with three easy hoops as New Albany held an early lead. It would not last.

With the game tied at 11, the Lakers went on a 20-2 run to provide a comfortable lead.

New Albany (3-2) has dropped two straight.
