Memorial honors Louisville teenagers killed in car crash 8 years ago

LOUISVILLE, Ky. (WDRB) -- Eight years later a Louisville family is working to turn their tragedy into something positive.

In 2008, four teenagers were killed following a police pursuit.

The driver, Herbert Lee, was driving a stolen car with the teens inside when he crashed.

Aaron Shields and brothers Jamar, Demar and Marc Claybrooks were all killed.

The family hopes to encourage individuals that they can make a positive difference in the community.

"We want people to know even 8 years later we can still make a difference. I don't believe there's enough of us out here, enough of us grown folks out here to help the younger men with better decision," Frankie Shields said.

The Shields family also hopes the Garden of Angels memorial, built for the teens, can be a place for the community to mourn for loved ones who have been killed, instead of going to a crime scene.
