LOUISVILLE, Ky. (WDRB) -- The Louisville International Airport unveils a major overhaul just in time for people traveling this holiday season.
The nearly $10 million terminal improvement project includes new flooring and carpet, four new escalators and artwork showing what makes Louisville unique.
Travelers will also be able to enjoy more local flavor, literally, with the addition of Smashburger, Coal's Pizza and a Comfy Cow Ice Cream shop.
"It's really the place where people get their first impressions, and also maybe get an idea of the kinds of things that they want to do when they come here. So, we're highlighting all of the attractions and activities that they can partake in while they're here. And, of course, we hope they come back often," said Jim Welch, with the Airport Authority Board of Directors.
Work on the improvements isn't quite complete yet. It's expected to wrap-up early next year.
