Alleged shoplifters pepper spray Hardin County Gap employee

ELIZABETHTOWN, Ky. (WDRB) -- Bold thieves hit the Elizabethtown Gap, and when someone tried to stop them, things got ugly.

Employees had their eyes on two women while they were in the store. Police say the women were using a large purse to take clothing and whatever else they wanted.

When one of the employees confronted the women about shoplifting, one of them pepper sprayed her right as the suspects were leaving.

The employee was seen writhing in pain as others came to her aid.

By the time police got to the store, the suspects were gone. Investigators think they took off in a gray mustang.

"Obviously we would like to find out who these people are, and as a result of the crime they committed, see them incarcerated," said Virgil Willoughby with Elizabethtown Police.

If you have any information, police want you to call them.

If they're caught, the suspects will likely face robbery charges, because they went after the Gap employee with pepper spray.
