New Neighborhood Place opens doors in eastern Jefferson County

Posted: Updated:

LOUISVILLE, Ky. (WDRB) -- The newly named Charmoli Neighborhood Place is officially open.

Neighborhood Places are part of the city's collaborative social services model, providing "one stop shopping" for those in need.

The center was dedicated to the late Jane Charmoli, a founding member of Neighborhood Place, on Tuesday morning. The location recently opened at the East Government Center to cater to Louisville's East Side residents.

"It's super-important that we have a Neighborhood Place in the eastern part of Jefferson County," said Louisville Mayor Greg Fischer. "Poverty and family needs are everywhere throughout Louisville."

There are eight Neighborhood Place locations and two satellite sites across Jefferson County. The centers give Louisville residents access to financial assistance programs, education resources and other social services.
