Police charge two with attempted murder after shooting in the Portland neighborhood

LOUISVILLE, Ky. (WDRB) -- Louisville Metro Police say they've charged two people with attempted murder after a man was shot in the neck in the area of the Portland neighborhood.

According to arrest reports, the incident took place on Saturday, Dec. 10,  just before 3:30 p.m. at a home on N. 26th Street, near Slevin Street.

Police say officers were called to the scene after someone reported a shooting. When they arrived, they found a man with a gunshot wound to the neck. According to the arrest report, the wound caused injuries to both carotid arteries.

The victim was hospitalized and was still in critical condition after surgery, according to the arrest reports.

Police say a surveillance camera captured video of three suspects approaching the home, casing the scene and driving away. According to arrest reports, officers were able to identify two people from the video. Those suspects were identified as 27-year-old Howard Boone, Jr. and 30-year-old Jonathan Collins.

Both men are charged with attempted murder.
