Juvenile indicted for murder after October shooting

LOUISVILLE, Ky. (WDRB) -- A Jefferson County grand jury has indicted a 16-year-old boy for murder in connection with the shooting of a man back in October.

Jayjuan Taylor is charged with murder, tampering with physical evidence and possession of a handgun by a minor. He was indicted earlier this week. The indictments mean that he will be charged as an adult.

It happened at approximately 10:15 a.m. Wednesday, Oct. 19, near the corner of S. 32nd Street and Greenwood Avenue.

The victim has been identified as 50-year-old Donald Hester. Hester was transported to the emergency room at University Hospital where he was pronounced dead from a gunshot wound to the chest.

"From the first one to the one we had today, they're all tragic," LMPD spokesperson Dwight Mitchell said of the city's 94th homicide.

Detectives say the victim was found in an alley between Greenwood and Grand Avenues.

"I live right here. My mother lives right there so it's an uneasy feeling," said one neighbor who only wanted to be identified as Jordan. "It's just really sad, these senseless killings that don't make any sense."

LMPD says no other arrests are anticipated.
