LOUISVILLE, Ky. (WDRB) -- Hundreds of gifts were handed out Saturday in Louisville to families in need.

Wayside Christian Mission hosted their annual Christmas Eve Santa Party at Hotel Louisville.

More than 100 women and children ate dinner and Christmas treats.

Wrapped gifts were handed out and the women received special gift bags.

Santa and his elves even made an appearance to take photos with the families.

"We're trying to give the families and the women that are in the shelter at Christmas, which is a very low point in their lives, a little normalcy, a little festivity so that when they leave here they actually have some good memories," Nina Moseley said.

Sunday the mission will be serving Christmas breakfast, lunch, and dinner to residents, along with playing games and singing karaoke.
