LOUISVILLE, Ky. (WDRB) -- An Indiana woman has died after a single-vehicle crash that happened on Christmas Day, according to Indiana State Police.

Officials say police responded to the crash just after 3 p.m. on US 50 near County Road 450 East at Elrod, which is in Ripley County.

Police say a 2003 Chevrolet Astro van was traveling east. For unknown reasons, the vehicle left the south side of the road and overturned, before hitting a tree. The driver of the vehicle, 27-year-old Tori Garcia, of Hanover, was pronounced dead at the scene, according to police.

Officials say a passenger who was in the front seat was taken to the hospital to be treated for minor injuries. Investigators say a four-year-old girl who was inside the vehicle, was critically injured. The child was taken to a Cincinnati-area hospital to be treated for her injuries.

Authorities say it's unknown if alcohol and drugs were factors in the crash. Investigators say the wet roadway and foggy weather might have been contributing factors.

Garcia and the front seat passenger were not wearing seatbelts, according to officials.

The crash remains under investigation.
