LOUISVILLE, Ky. (WDRB) -- Clark County, Ind., will start a needle exchange program next month after struggling to find funding.

The program, called "The Exchange," will begin Jan. 26 and be open every Thursday.

Clark County received two grants to get the program up and running at Clark County's HIV, STD clinic in Jeffersonville.

"When participants come here to exchange their syringes, they will be offered other services and referrals, such as testing," said Laura Lindley with the Clark County Health Department.

Officials hope to have enough money to be open two days a week within a year year.

Clark County is looking for volunteers that will be trained before working at the Jeffersonville clinic. An open house will be held at the clinic on Jan. 25 from 1-3 p.m.
