LOUISVILLE, Ky. (WDRB) -- Drivers flocked to the two RiverLink offices in Jeffersonville and downtown Louisville on Thursday night to sign up in person before tolling begins at 4 a.m. Friday.

The Jeffersonville office had a two-hour wait and a line out the door. One woman in line said she didn't realize tolling started so soon.

“Then no wonder everyone is rushing," Stephanie Walker said. "I thought I at least had until New Years."

Drivers will pay $4 each way to cross the Kennedy, Lincoln and Lewis and Clark Bridges if they do not have a RiverLink account. The bill will be sent through the mail.

If you have a transponder, you will pay $2 per crossing. These customers can get a frequent user discount after 40 crossings in a month. The discount will be applied to all crossings that month, making the cost $1 per crossing.

You can also register your license plate, without using a transponder, for $3 a crossing.

Some people who do not plan to use the bridges often say they still want the benefits of a transponder.

“I’m not an everyday traveler, but I don’t want to have to pay outrageous amounts of money for my every once and awhile going across,” said Mary Burgess of Clarksville.
