LOUISVILLE, Ky. (WDRB) -- Louisville Metro Police say they've arrested the suspect who fatally shot one man at a local nightclub and wounded another.

According to an arrest report, 28-year-old John K. Reed was taken into custody Thursday afternoon.

Police say that on Monday, Dec. 26, just after 5 a.m., they responded to a reported shooting at the Vybe Lounge, near the intersection of S. 24th Street and W. Broadway.

Inside the club, police say they found two victims who had been shot. They were taken to the hospital for treatment.

One victim, identified by the Jefferson County Coroner's Office as 22-year-old Monquel Ligon, died as a result of a gunshot wound to the chest.

The other victim is expected to survive, according to police.

Police say their investigation revealed that Reed was, "the person in possession of a handgun which he discharged inside the after-hours club." He was taken into custody Thursday afternoon. According to the arrest report, officers found an unknown type of white pills in his pants pocket during his arrest.

Reed is charged with murder, first degree assault, possession of a handgun by a convicted felon and possession of a controlled substance. He is currently being held in Louisville Metro Corrections.
