Family of first homicide victim of 2016 still searching for answers
One year after the first murder of 2016, family members of the victim are still left without answers.
SHIVELY, Ky. (WDRB) – One year after the first murder of 2016, family members of the victim are still left without answers.
Lloyd Jones, 49, was found dead near his apartment building back on Jan. 2, 2016. The Jefferson County Coroner's Office say Jones died of multiple gunshot wounds to the body.
No one has been arrested in the case.
“I know somebody out there knows something,” said Jones’ sister, Helen Neal. “Somebody on this block saw something, saw a car leave the scene.”
Jones was the first homicide victim in Jefferson County in 2016. The year proved to be record-breaking, as the county saw a total of 123 homicides.
“He didn't deserve that,” said Jones’ longtime girlfriend, Carolyn Marshall. “I don't know how much more I can take of this. I just need some closure.”
Neal says her other brother, Craig Jones, was also shot to death in 2005.
“We did not deserve this,” Neal said. “We're looking for justice.”
