Indiana Senate opens legislative session

Posted: Updated:

LOUISVILLE, Ky. (WDRB) -- Indiana Senators have returned to work.

The Senate started its legislative session Tuesday morning while the House will gavel in on Wednesday. Republicans have super-majorities in both chambers.

Leaders say one priority is writing Indiana's next two-year budget. They also hope to create a plan to fund road improvements and infrastructure projects into the future. That will likely include a tax increase.

Governor-elect Eric Holcomb says he will unveil his agenda for the coming session on Friday. He will be sworn in as governor on Jan. 9.
