Hi-Five Doughnuts ready to open storefront in Butchertown

Posted: Updated:

Hi-Five Doughnuts is bringing the doughnut pizza to Louisville.  After nearly a year in the making, the shop is ready to open on Main Street in Butchertown next week.

Best friends and founders of the Hi-Five Doughnuts, Annie Harlow and Leslie Wilson, have been making their creative doughnut masterpieces out of a food truck for years.

“We're super excited,” Wilson said. “We're trying to finish up all the last little touches. I don't think we realized all the little things that go into it.”

The local donut shop is known across the area for its wacky and flavorful concoctions.

“It's an epic Willy Wonka kind of concoction,” Harlow said.

“Like our classic Kentucky fried buttermilk chicken doughnut sandwich that we always do with the sweet and saucy glaze,” Wilson said.

When developer Andy Blieden tried their doughnuts for the first time, he knew Hi-Five would be a good fit for the area of town he calls The Butcher Block.

“I just try to get the best tenants I possibly can," Blieden said. "The most creative, the highest-quality product, and Hi-Five Doughnuts definitely fit the build."

Blieden offered them the building, and now the “Ladies of the Morning” are ready to take their doughnuts to the next level.

“We've got the doughnut pizza, which is super cool," Wilson said. "That's a big doughnut that's sliced up like pizza. You can get glaze and toppings on that, too. It’s really fun.

"We have a breakfast doughnut sandwich with applewood smoked bacon and a farm fresh egg and Kenny's cheddar cheese."
