Bullitt County hiring more 911 dispatchers to deal with call volume
Bullitt County is trying to help its 911 dispatcher shortage.
LOUISVILLE, Ky. (WDRB) -- Bullitt County is trying to help its 911 dispatcher shortage.
Fiscal Court has just approved hiring four people, which would bring the dispatcher total to 14. The Director believes that's the largest number of dispatchers in the county's history.
Starting pay is $12.25 an hour.
EMS says it will take three to four months for a trainee to operate on their own.
The agency says it continues to lose dispatchers to surrounding counties for higher pay.
