Local students compete in Kentucky Derby Festival Spelling Bee

LOUISVILLE, Ky. (WDRB) -- Derby weekend is quickly approaching and with it comes several events, including some for students.

It was job well D-O-N-E Saturday as 64 students from 62 counties in Southern Indiana and Kentucky took part in the Derby Festival Spelling Bee at the Kentucky Center for the Arts.

The competition was intense but Tara Sighn, of Louisville, came out on top for the second year in a row.

She received a $10,000 savings bond, an Amazon gift card and a trophy.
