LOUISVILLE, Ky. (WDRB) -- Authorities have identified a man who was killed in a motorcycle wreck in downtown Louisville early Friday morning.

According to the Jefferson County Coroner's Office, that man has been identified as 22-year-old Damien Allen. 

The Louisville Metro Police Department says Allen wrecked around 12:30 a.m. Friday on Chestnut Street, near East Muhammad Ali Boulevard.

Investigators say Allen was traveling north on Chestnut Street at a high rate of speed when he lost control and crashed into a fence. Police say family members in a separate vehicle were driving behind him when the crash happened.

They took him to University Hospital where he died. His cause of death is listed as multiple blunt force injuries. LMPD says he was not wearing a helmet.

Police have not said if drugs or alcohol played a role in the crash.
