U of L swimmer Kelsi Worrell wins Nationals in the 50 meter butterfly

LOUISVILLE, Ky. (WDRB) --   University of Louisville swimmer Kelsi Worrell won the U. S. Nationals & World Championship in the 50 meter butterfly.

The Olympic gold medalist qualified Wednesday night to swim the butterfly in the FINA World Championships next month in Budapest. Worrell moved to second in the world rankings trailing only Sweden's Sarah Sjostrom (24.76). 

Worrell had already made the World who made the 4x100 free relay on Tuesday. 

Mallory Comerford, who won her own national championship last night, finished fourth in the 200M freestyle with a time of 1:56.95. The event was won by Katie Ledecky's 1:54.84.
 
ACC Champion Andrea Cottrell finished sixth in the 200M Breaststroke A-final with a 2:26.50. That event was won by Olympic gold medalist Lilly King of Indiana University.
