Ky. Gov. Matt Bevin says he isn't worried about California travel ban against Kentucky

LOUISVILLE, Ky. (WDRB) -- California's attorney general doesn't want to do business in Kentucky, but Kentucky Governor Matt Bevin says he isn't worried.

"I think it will be about effective as nothing," said Gov. Bevin. "I think we will have plenty of people from California coming here. I think we'll probably have more now as a result of this. I appreciate the publicity, and what I can guarantee you, while the attorney general is attempting to limit travel here, I will be doing lots of business recruiting companies to come to Kentucky."

Earlier this week, California's Attorney General blocked state-funded travel to Kentucky and three other states. He says he feels Kentucky's new law on religious or political expression in schools could allow LGBT discrimination.

Proponents of the law say it protects their right not to participate in practices that violate their religion.

Louisville Mayor Greg Fischer says the travel ban already cost the city a convention. He did not name the convention, but we're expected to learn more from the mayor later on Thursday, when he and local business leaders will talk about the economic impact already hitting the city.
