LOUISVILLE, Ky. (WDRB) -- A Michigan mother was arrested after officials say she tried to set her car on fire at a cemetery while her 11-year-old son was inside.

Fox 2 Detroit reports that it happened Tuesday at the Roselawn Memorial Park in LaSalle Township.

Police state the 48-year-old woman took her son to the cemetery and tied him up inside her car and attempted to ignite the fire.

Authorities say when the fire would not start, she let her son get out of the vehicle.

According to officials, the woman walked around the cemetery until she found an employee, who then untied the child.

Police were informed by the woman's husband that she may have hurt the child. When police arrived at the cemetery, officers saw smoke coming from the woman's car, however the woman and her child were in another part of the cemetery.

The child was taken to the hospital and was later released into his father's custody.

The woman, whose name has not been released, was taken to a hospital for a mental evaluation, before being lodged at the Monroe County Jail.

She is charged with attempted murder and arson.
