Kentucky Kingdom reopens after power outage caused evacuation on Monday
Kentucky Kingdom is back open for business Tuesday after being forced to evacuate people from rides on Monday.
LOUISVILLE, Ky. (WDRB) -- Kentucky Kingdom is back open for business Tuesday after being forced to evacuate people from rides on Monday.
Park management officials say the rides were shut down because of a power outage caused by a bad transformer. That caused numerous water rides, roller coasters and the Ferris Wheel to shut down.
The transformer has been replaced and all of the rides were back in business in time for the park to open on the Fourth of July.
"We, fortunately had LG&E with us to help us out, and they worked really well with our team and we were able to get everybody taken care of, get the rides back up and we're open and ready to go today," said Adam Birkner, the media and communications manager for Kentucky Kingdom.
Mile High Falls is the only ride that is closed Tuesday, but that is not connected to the outage.
The park is open until 8 p.m. on Tuesday.
