LOUISVILLE, Ky. (WDRB) -- Indiana State Police say a man is dead after a crash that happened in Switzerland County.

According to a news release, Indiana State Police and officers with the Switzerland County Sheriff's Department responded to a two-vehicle crash on Tuesday around 1 p.m.

It happened on State Road 156 near Concord Road.

Police say 60-year-old Steven Adams was driving a 2004 Harley Davidson motorcycle east on State Road 156. According to police, a deer ran into the the path of the motorcycle.

Officials say the motorcycle hit a deer, and a passenger was thrown from the motorcycle. Investigators say the motorcycle then crossed into the westbound lanes of State Road 156, where it was hit by a 2008 Chevrolet Equinox that was going west.

Authorities say Adams was pronounced dead at the scene by the Switzerland County Coroner. The motorcycle passenger was flown to the University of Cincinnati Hospital with serious injuries. According to police, neither Adams nor the passenger were wearing helmets. The driver of the Chevrolet Equinox was not hurt.

Police say alcohol and drugs do not appear to have been involved.

The crash remains under investigation.
