LMAS blames Fourth of July fireworks for spike in animal runoffs

Posted: Updated:

LOUISVILLE, Ky. (WDRB) -- Louisville Metro Animal Services is feeling the aftermath of the Fourth of July fireworks.

LMAS takes in nearly four times the usual number of animals after the Fourth because the pets run off when they're scared by fireworks.

Shelter officials say the best thing to do is make sure your pet is micro-chipped and registered in the pet database, so it's easier to find the pet's owner.
