LOUISVILLE, Ky. (WDRB) -- Indiana State Police are investigating a single-occupant helicopter crash that happened Saturday in Dubois County.

Indiana State Police Sgt. Philip Hensley says it happened around 11 a.m. on West County Road 450 North in Ireland.

42-year-old Keith Windsor of Charlestown was crop dusting over fields when he experienced mechanical issues for unknown reasons and crashed in a bean field.

He was able to exit before the helicopter caught fire.

Officers say the helicopter was a total loss, destroyed by the crash and the fire.

Windsor was taken to a local hospital by medical helicopter where he was treated for a broken leg and chest pains.

The investigation into the crash continues.
