Pedestrian dies after being struck in downtown Louisville, driver charged with murder

LOUISVILLE, Ky. (WDRB) -- A Louisville man is charged with murder after hitting a pedestrian in downtown Louisville Saturday night. 

LMPD Spokesperson Dwight Mitchell said it happened around 10:30 p.m. at 2nd Street and Broadway. 

64-year-old David Sherman was driving southbound on 2nd Street when he crossed over Broadway and onto a one-way street in the wrong direction.

Sherman then hit a pedestrian who was crossing 2nd Street. 

He told police he had consumed alcohol sometime before driving, and was taken into custody.

Sherman is being held at Metro Corrections charged with murder and DUI.

The pedestrian was transported to University Hospital with life threatening injuries, where he later died.
