LOUISVILLE, Ky. (WDRB) -- Two Elizabethtown residents accused of trying to meet a child for sex went before a Louisville judge on Tuesday.

Police say 32-year-old Stephanie Smith and 43-year-old Robert Mitchell tried to meet a child online, then arranged to meet the child for sex in Jeffersontown.

It turns out the pair had been in contact with an undercover police officer.

Authorities say Smith and Mitchell had a three-year-old and a six-year-old with them on Monday, when they were arrested. In court, Smith stated they were not her children, and she also said Mitchell is her fiancee.

Not guilty pleas were entered for both Smith and Mitchell.
