LOUISVILLE, Ky. (WDRB) -- The chief of St. Matthews Police is retiring.

Col. Norm Mayer announced at Tuesday night's city council meeting that he's leaving the force. It's unclear, however, when he'll actually be stepping down.

Mayer was appointed to the position in 1988 after a career with the Louisville Division of Police.
