LOUISVILLE, Ky. (WDRB) -- Police are looking for suspects after pharmacies in Vine Grove and Elizabethtown were broken into early Tuesday.
According to a post on the Vine Grove Police Department's Facebook page, one break-in happened at the ApotheCare Pharmacy in the 100 block of Crutcher Street on the morning of July 11.
Police say two suspects can be seen on video surveillance footage partially disabling the alarm system before searching for and stealing specific medications.
"They were reading the labels," said Vine Grove Police Chief Ken Mattingly. "Each shelf was labeled with what type of medication was on it, and they were clearly after specific types of medicine."
Police said the two men were in the store for about two minutes before leaving and heading south toward a Boone's Cleaners building at Peck and Crutcher Street. That's where police believe the suspects either had a vehicle waiting or an accomplice who drove them from the scene.
Mattingly said while officers were investigating that robbery, they received word that Elizabethtown Police officers were investigating another break-in at an ApotheCare on Woodland Drive in Elizabethtown. Police said surveillance video from both locations indicate that the suspects are the same in both incidents.
"Same suspect clothing description, same tools, and everything," Mattingly said. "If it's not the same people, I'd be surprised."
Mattingly said Kentucky State Police also contacted him to say a pharmacy robbery in the Hopkinsville area might also be connected.
He's requesting anyone with information to call and report it. Officers are looking for tips regarding any vehicles or people in the area of the ApotheCare in Vine Grove around 12:30 a.m. and 12:45 a.m. Tuesday. Mattingly said it's urgent they catch these crooks as soon as possible.
"The medication that they took is possibly going to be re-sold, which is going to be problematic for law enforcement no matter where it's at," Mattingly said.
If you recognize the the individuals in the videos, please contact the Vine Grove Police Department at 270-877-2252, or call the Radcliff Police Department anonymous tip line at 270-351-TIPS (8477).
