LOUISVILLE, Ky. (WDRB) -- Police say they arrested a man early Thursday after a shooting during a drug deal behind a Jeffersontown restaurant.

Jeffersontown Police said the shooting happened around 8 p.m. Wednesday behind the Subway between South Hurstbourne Parkway and Linn Station Road.

According to J'town Police Chief Ken Hatmaker, 38-year-old Nicholas Darnell shot the victim in the back during a drug deal. The victim was taken to the hospital. Hatmaker say he remains hospitalized in serious condition.

Darnell was arrested early Thursday after a standoff on Lanark Place near Blankenbaker Parkway and Shelbyville Road in the Douglass Hills neighborhood. He's charged with first degree assault.

Jeffersontown Police said the victim and Darnell knew each other. The investigation is ongoing.
