Oldest WW II vet in US attends ceremony in Memphis
He traveled to Memphis to attend a ceremony honoring his grand-grandfather -- one of the city's founders.
LOUISVILLE, Ky. (WDRB) -- The nation's oldest World War II veteran is making a visit to Memphis, Tennessee.
Robert Overton is 111 years old. He enlisted in the Army in 1940, and survived the attack on Pearl Harbor a year later.
Overton also happens to be a great-grandson of one of the founders of Memphis, which is part of the reason for his visit.
When he arrived in town Friday, he was met with great fanfare -- including a water cannon salute and an escort to his hotel.
As for Overton's secret to living a long life?
He says you just have to keep moving.
