LOUISVILLE, Ky. (WDRB) -- The mayor of Indianapolis is calling for accountability after the fatal police shooting of an unarmed black man.

Mayor Joe Hogsett said Friday that new bias training for police officers and a change in the department's use of force policies is needed.

"This conversation will continue in the weeks, months, years ahead," Hogsett said. "We find ourselves bearing the weight of years of history. We won't shed that legacy overnight. I wish we could, but we won't shirk our duty to carry that load. That's my load. There will be more change to come. I'm hopeful these steps will be meaningful going forward."

Hogsett went on to say the community will work with the police department to help create the bias training program.
