VINE GROVE, Ky. (WDRB) -- Dreams are coming true for a Vine Grove girl who wants to pay it forward to other children.

Five years ago, then-9-year-old Rachel Ritchie saw disable children not being able to play at a local park.

So after five years of planning, fundraising and help from city leaders, the handicap-accessible park became a reality Saturday. Crews started putting together a playground in Optimist Park known as "Rachel's Fun for Everyone Project."

Vine Grove citizens constructed the equipment with the help of Rachel's family and friends.

"It's a little emotional because this has been such a part of my life and is such a part of my life," Ritchie said. "A dream you have worked so long to come true, and you can see it forming right in front of your eyes ... it's crazy."

Construction on the playground will continue again Sunday and should be complete early next week.
