11-year old Louisville girl teaches dance classes as Hollywood takes note
Jene' Moore grew up in Louisville and hopes to become a triple-threat in the entertainment world.
LOUISVILLE, Ky (WDRB) - A young Louisville girl is a force to be reckoned with in the local dance community and her talents are catching the eyes of some pretty big names.
11-year old Jene' Moore grew up in Louisville and that is where her young, but impressive, dance resume began.
On Saturday, Jene' brought her talents back to her hometown to teach a dance class to children and adults at Safiyyah Dance Company.
“You can’t really do anything wrong with dancing because there is no type of rules, so you can be as free as you want to be,” said Moore. “If I am sad, I can dance to music, and because it will make me happy, and it’s another way for me to express my feelings.”
Moore and her family currently lives in Atlanta but come back to Louisville for special occasions like Saturday’s dance classes.
After learning to dance at a very young age, Moore quickly began booking dance gigs not only across the country but around the world.
At 11-years old, she is now a professional dancer and has danced with pop star Ciara and recently shot a Reebok commercial.
Dancing, however, is only part of what she's interested in.
“My goal is to become a triple threat – act, dance, and sing because you never know when there is a job when they want you to sing and dance. So you have to be prepared at all times,” said Moore.
Her style is known as jazz funk – a mix of hip hop and jazz. Moore does not hesitate when asked who she would someday like to share a stage with.
“Janet Jackson because she gives a great old school vibe, and I think that is just a really good feel to dance with.”
Moore will head back with her family to Atlanta before flying to Los Angeles next week to teach at a dance convention.
