Clarksville names new road in honor of mother and children killed in crash
The road connects Eastern Boulevard to Little League Boulevard.
CLARKSVILLE, Ind. (WDRB) -- The opening of a new road serves as a tribute to three young people whose lives were cut short in a fiery crash.
Family members and friends of the victims gathered this morning to cut the ribbon on Owens Way in Clarksville. It connects Eastern Boulevard to Little League Boulevard.
It's named after a longtime Clarksville family to remember three family members killed in a crash on I-64 in Louisville in April of 2016. Samantha Owens, her two month old son Liam McCarty and her fourth grade sister Lauren Owens all died when their car was hit, and burst into flames.
Family friend Ashley Drury says it's a nice way to remember the mother and children. "There's not a day that goes by that I don't think of Lauren and Samantha and wonder what she would do it she were still here. They'd want us to know they're smiling down and happy."
Two former town council members came up with the idea to name the roadway after the Owens family.
