Louisville liquor store to start delivery service using smartphone app
Party Mart on Brownsboro Road is starting a liquor delivery service on Thursday.
Party Mart on Brownsboro Road is starting a liquor delivery service on Thursday after Kentucky law was repealed earlier this year to allow it.
"For $5, it's a lot cheaper than a DUI," customer Chris Anderson said. "You can get your groceries delivered. Why couldn't you just have your alcohol and your beer delivered too?"
With concerns about the possibility of selling to minors online, the change didn't go down smooth for everyone.
"I'm sure there is a criticism about the legality of 'Oh, underage kids are going to get alcohol,'" customer Scott Schneider said.
Edward Harrison is the Director of Business Development at Blue Equity LLC, which is the company that owns Party Mart. Harrison said customers will still have to show identification.
"At the door when the order is delivered, the individual accepting the delivery must present valid identification confirming that they are 21-years-of-age or older, and the credit card used for the transaction must match that individual's information," he said.
"I don't see that as any more of an issue than underage kids going into liquor stores," Schneider said.
Party Mart lists its delivery locations as downtown, the Highlands, Audubon Park, Poplar level, Seneca Gardens, Indian Hills, Riverwood, St. Matthews, Beechwood Village, Hurstbourne, Beachland Beach, Prospect, Rolling Hills and other place inside the city.
Here are the liquor delivery times:
Sunday -- 2 p.m. to 6 p.m.
Monday -- 10 a.m. to 9 p.m.
Tuesday -- 10 a.m. to 9 p.m.
