LOUISVILLE, Ky. (WDRB) -- The Louisville Orchestra Inc. and Musicians of the Louisville Orchestra announced Tuesday a three-year contract agreement slated to run through May 31, 2020.

A priority of the Louisville Orchestra's strategic plan was to raise musician salaries to $40,000 over the next five years. As part of the new agreement, the increases include a salary increase of five percent in the first year, which will be followed by increases of three percent for years two and three. As a result, musicians will have a base salary of $37,167.

The contract will include a 33-week season in the first year and 34-week seasons in the second and third years of the agreement.

Contract changes were made that will increase the number and types of community outreach activities by the orchestra members.

The Louisville Orchestra will celebrate its 80th season starting in September.
