Apple patents tech allowing iPhone user to use fingerprint to call 911

Posted: Updated:

LOUISVILLE, Ky. (WDRB) -- Apple is working on a way to use the iPhone to secretly call 911.

The tech company patented a process that would allow a person to use his or her fingerprint to call for help. Apple suggests the technology would look for a sequence of fingerprints or applied pressure to trigger an emergency call.

When the feature is used, it would give responders the location of the phone and could also pull live video or audio directly from the iPhone.

It's not clear how Apple would implement the technology.
