Police searching for suspect in violent carjacking in Park DuValle neighborhood

LOUISVILLE, Ky. (WDRB) -- Police are asking for help finding a suspect in a violent carjacking in the Park Duvalle neighborhood.

It happened about 6 a..m Monday on Dr. William G. Weathers Drive, between 31st and 32nd Streets. 

Louisville Metro Police say a the woman in her 30s was with her 4-year-old son, when a man demanded the her keys, hit her with a gun and shot her in the arm. Then he took off in her silver 2011 Hyundai Sonata. 

The little boy was not hurt, but police say he was traumatized by the attack and robbery. 

The car pictured is similar to the one police are trying to find. It has a Kentucky tag of 510-VRK with dark tinted windows. 

If you've seen this car or know anything about the suspect, you can send a text to LMPD at 274637, which spells out CRIMES.  Or you may call 574-LMPD or go online. You can remain anonymous.

Police ask that no one approach the vehicle or possible suspect, who should be considered armed and dangerous.
