LOUISVILLE, Ky. (WDRB) -- A Lexington police officer has been reassigned after hitting and killing a pedestrian while on duty.

The Lexington Police Department said the officer was on his way to assist another officer with a traffic stop around 2:30 a.m. Wednesday

The officer hit and killed 50-year-old Dave Miles on Euclid Avenue near Woodland Avenue. Police said the officer, who hasn't been identified, did not have his police lights or sirens on at the time.

But the department said his body camera was activated.

The officer has been reassigned during the investigation.
