Kentucky Humane Society confirms first case of dog flu at intake facility

Posted: Updated:

LOUISVILLE, Ky. (WDRB) -- The Kentucky Humane Society has its first confirmed case of the dog flu.

Officials say a dog at its intake facility on Steedly Drive tested positive for the virus.

KHS is now quarantining and treating all exposed dogs at the facility, and is temporarily halting all canine intakes.

Staff began vaccinating all shelter dogs for the dog flu last month.

All off-site adoption centers will remain open for adoptions, so will the Healthy Pets Clinic, also on Steedly Drive.

The clinic is on a separate air system and has a separate entrance from the shelter.
