LOUISVILLE, Ky. (WDRB) -- A would-be robber got far more than he bargained for when he tried to rob a Starbucks in Fresno, California.

Fox26 News reports the incident happened on Thursday.

Fresno Police say the suspect walked into the Starbucks store with a fake gun and a "Transformers" mask.

Authorities say when the clerk hesitated in handing over money, the suspect pulled out a knife.

Officials say a customer, 58-year-old Cregg Jerri, snuck up behind the suspect and hit him with a chair. The two men began fighting. According to police, Jerri took the knife and stabbed the suspect several times before the man escaped in a Ford pick-up truck.

Investigators say Jerri was stabbed in the neck, but is expected to be okay.

The suspect, who has not been identified, was located a few blocks away. Authorities say when he was found, the man claimed he had been the victim of a car jacking.

The man is expected to be booked when he's released from the hospital.
