Several Indiana fire departments to benefit from federal grant

Posted: Updated:

LOUISVILLE, Ky. (WDRB) -- A quarter of a million dollars is going to rural and volunteer fire departments in Indiana.

Several local departments are getting a cut of that money, including Scottsburg, Boone Township, Georgetown Township, and Charlestown Volunteer Fire Departments. Each will get up to $5,000. That money can be used for training, hydrant installation, or to purchase firefighting equipment and gear to combat wildfires.

The grants come from the U.S. Department of Agriculture Forest Service.
